Planet Pocket Puzzle

This tactile mechanical doodad features an astronomical challenge.

The goal is to release the thorny silver planetoid from the highly restrictive orbit of the exterior gold ring. You can attempt to fiddle, spin and twist until you achieve escape velocity by change. But like any good space mission, a bit of planning and engineering insight will go a long way.
