And the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep and fall was awakened."- Raquel Franco
Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. I love homeschooling during the fall season. Just like many families we mark our first days of our "homeschool" year with a few family traditions. One of our traditions is switching out our summer read alouds, and adding in our autumn books. Some of our old favorites are:
One Family, Feast for 10, Fry Bread, Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn, and Fletcher and the Falling Leaves. And, new favorites like Loujain Dreams of Sunflowers and Magnificent Homespun Brown.
Nothing welcomes the coziness of autumn like slowing down and reading good books together. Squishing tightly together on the couch, huddling close on the living room floor with our blankets and pillows, or taking our book basket outdoors and reading under our favorite tree are just a few of the ways we get into the autumn spirit. I don't know about you, but experiencing these simple pleasures brings me so much joy.
